Phoenix is a flexible platform for developments in the field of autonomous mobile robots. The vehicle has 2 driven rear wheels and one passive front wheel. In the current sensor configuration Phoenix is equipped with a ring of 24 ultrasonic sensors (Polaroid), an optical 360°-scanner (ESP ORS-1) and a 180°-laser-scanner (Sick PLS). The robot is controlled by an on-board-VMEbus-multiprocessor system running the ALBATROSS operating system.
